The Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture asked me to design a shade structure that would provide heat abatement for pedestrians. This project showcases how art and built shade come together to provide beauty and shelter throughout Phoenix. 16 of these custom structures were placed throughout Phoenix, Arizona, at major intersections and crosswalks. This is a collaboration with myself, the Office of Heat Response and Mitigation, the Streets Transportation Department, and the Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture.
